Why We Chose Solana

Research LeadAidos Fi Core Team

How Aidos Fi leverages zero-knowledge proofs and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to allow institutional and retail capital to execute complex strategies without market impact.

In traditional decentralized finance (DeFi), public mempools create an environment where front-running and MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) are rampant. For institutional players wanting to execute large orders, this lack of privacy translates directly into financial loss through slippage and sandwich attacks.

The Architecture of Privacy

By combining the high throughput of Solana with Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), we have created a darkpool mechanism where the matching engine runs inside a secure enclave. Neither the operators nor the validators can see the contents of the order book.

Zero-knowledge proofs are utilized to verify that a user possesses the required balances and that the transaction adheres to the protocol's risk parameters, all without revealing the actual amounts or the user's address. Below is a simplified representation of the cryptographic flow:

shielded_execution.rs
pub fn execute_shielded_swap(ctx: Context<ExecuteSwap>, proof: ZkProof) -> Result<()> {
    // 1. Verify the zero-knowledge proof of balance    require!(verify_proof(&proof, &ctx.accounts.vk), ErrorCode::InvalidProof);
    // 2. Dispatch to the TEE enclave for matching    let enclave_response = enclave::match_orders(proof.commitment);
    // 3. Settle on Solana    token::transfer(        CpiContext::new_with_signer(...),        enclave_response.amount    )?;
    Ok(())}

Performance Metrics

Our testnet results demonstrate that combining TEEs with Solana's parallel processing doesn't bottleneck the network. In fact, it provides latency comparable to traditional centralized darkpools while maintaining cryptographic guarantees.

MetricStandard AMMAidos ZK-DarkpoolImprovement
MEV VulnerabilityHigh (Public Mempool)Zero (Encrypted Payload)100%
Execution Latency~400ms~450ms (incl. ZK verify)-12.5%

"Privacy in Web3 isn't just about hiding; it's the prerequisite for institutional-grade liquidity and fair market execution."

Key Takeaways

  • Zero MEV Leaks: By encrypting order intents until they are matched inside the enclave, Aidos Fi mathematically eliminates front-running.
  • Capital Efficiency: Utilizing Solana's state compression and low fees to verify ZK proofs on-chain affordably.
  • Programmable Privacy: Users can configure exactly what data points to share with specific counterparties via view keys.

Next Steps

Our darkpool is currently undergoing rigorous audits by leading security firms. The SDK will be available for early access partners next month. Stay tuned as we publish more technical deep-dives on our cryptographic primitives.
